How to Get Your Police Report After a Kentucky Car Accident
After listening to our client’s version of events that led to the car accident, the first piece of evidence we will review together with them is a copy of their Kentucky police report.
In fact, for more than 35 years, the injury attorneys at the Fletcher Law Firm have helped victims throughout Kentucky obtain their accident report and review with them the findings FREE of cost.
How to Get a Copy of Your Kentucky Accident Report
There are a couple ways to retrieve your accident report, and depending on the seriousness of the accident, it may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks for the full-findings to become available.
The easiest way to locate your report is to use the online source that uploads copies of all the car accidents that occur in the state of Kentucky. The website will require a few pieces of information to locate the report, including:
- Last name of the party involved
- Date of the accident
- Name of the responding police department, e.g., Hopkinsville Police Department or Kentucky State Police
The system also requires that you include at least ONE (1) of the following:
- Drivers license number, or
- Your report number, i.e., ‘Local Code,’ or
- Officer’s badge number
If you choose to use the online system before speaking with one of our attorneys, you will be required to pay a $10.00 charge that can either be done by credit card or through a PayPal account.
If the Kentucky State Police responded and investigated the accident, and you wish to send a written request, you will be required to send a $5.00 check or money order to the correct State post and made payable to the Kentucky State Treasurer.
